The annual furniture fair in Milan is coming up.
It´s April and almost time for Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2011. This year the fair turns 50 years old, or 50 years young as they prefer to say themselves.
The visitor numbers have gone up from 12,100 in 1961 to 297,460 in 2010. The initial 328 exhibitors over what was then 11,000 square meters of display space have become over 2,500 in an area now measuring in excess of 200,000 square meters. Last year there were 32,000 people visiting on the Sunday alone.
From Tuesday 12th to Sunday 17th April the fair will be going, and the action will not only take place at the fair. There will be happenings all over Milan to celebrate the Design week.

This furniture fair will be the most important of the week and will be unmissable, of course. But don't forget other parallel expos such the Tortona Design week and Euroluce. At Zona Tortona I'm looking forward to get to know some new and exciting furniture design companies such as Koket, among others for sure.
